Bhai Meharban Singh, a professional rabab player & instructor started his musical journey under the tutelage of Padam Shri Professor Kartar Singh Ji in the year 2011 from Gurmat Sangeet Academy Sri Anandpur Sahib Punjab (run by SGPC). Gaining lessons from Prof. Singh’s ignited the musical imagination in him and also instilled a yearning to learn more in this realm. After completing his course in Gurmat Sangeet & Tanti-saaza he pursued ‘Gyani’ a diploma of scholar in Sikhism from Punjabi University, Patiala & also Academic Qualified in a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Khalsa College, Amritsar.
Rabab – There are many beauties of this instrument. Let us know some facts about Rabab. Rabab is a 3 to 3.5 feet long instrument with nylon strings plucked by means of a plectrum that deepens and gives more power to its sound. It is a fretless instrument with 4 strings. This instrument is made primarily of “Tun Wood”.

Dilruba – let’s know some basic facts about Dilruba. Dilruba Originates and is a compact version of Taus, and it is made so for the convenience of the Sikh army( who were in the service of the tenth Guru of Sikhs) to carry it to horseback 300 years ago, as the Taus was heavy in its weight.

Taus – Taus is just not a beautiful instrument but sounds blissfully beautiful. The tenth Guru of Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh Ji named this glorious instrument in the Persian language word “Taus” which means ‘peacock’ and is pronounced as ‘ta-oous’.
